Bedana literally means seedless, which overstates it: the seed inside each aril is soft enough to chew and swallow rather than truly absent. That single difference changes how the fruit is eaten — no spitting, no picking — and makes it the variety households buy for children and for anyone who finds Kandhari's hard seed tiresome. Sugar is high and acid is low.
